Welcome to our Nunagrammer of the Month series! On the first Tuesday of every month, we will highlight one of the talented photographers who contribute to #nunagram, a hashtag for Instagrammers in Nunavut.

The concept is pretty simple. We send the Instagrammer a series of questions and then publish their answers here, pretty much unedited. This is a great way for our already strong Instagram community to get to know one another just a little bit better.

So, without further adieu, the October 2015 Nunagrammer of the Month – and also our first ever – is @siutiapik.

Tell us about your Instagram handle, @siutiapik.

It’s my middle name, ᓯᐅᑎᐊᐱᒃ (Siutiapik).

What do you like to photograph the most?

Anything I can use the hashtags #ILoveTheArctic or #Punny #DadJokes on. Majority of my posts are things that make me smile and that I think will make others smile.

Different kind of mattaaq. #Mahaha

What is your favourite Instagram photo that you’ve taken?

Tough to pick one, but I’ll go with a video-photo combination. While boating I decided to take a selfie with everyone on the boat but instead of a still I took a video so that everyone in the picture was pretty much still and in the background was motion with sound. I find it hilarious.

How would you describe your Instagram account to other people?

Sometimes serious but mostly not even. I truly love the Arctic and wish for people to experience this special place even if it’s just through photos and 14 second videos.

That's so raven. #ILoveTheArctic

What cameras and apps do you use to take and edit photos for Instagram?

iPhone 5s, mostly native Instagram app sometimes one of those free Instagram collage apps. Repost app for reposting.

Why do you use Instagram? What do you like about it?

I like the diversity of the photos I see from accounts I follow. I also like the familiarity of the photos I see from Inuit in Greenland and Alaska. I need to find some Russian Inuit to follow and then I’ll have all countries covered for Inuit Nunat. It’s amazing to see how much the north coast of Alaska feels a lot like home.
